Fun, friendly, competitive and educational event related to Hunting! Eight challenge events including four shooting events (rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and archery) and four hunter responsibility events (hunter responsibility exam, wildlife identification, orienteering and hunter safety trail). For youth (under 19 - or age 19 but still enrolled in high school during part of 2020 calendar year) who have completed Basic Hunter Education. Entry fee is $50.00 and includes participant certificate, ammunition as needed, loaner equipment if needed (make sure to indicate in registration and coordinate with event staff in advance of event for any loaner equipment), lunch on Saturday, and BBQ lunch on Sunday. Awards presented to event winners in a number of categories.

The Alaska Interior Marksmanship Committee (AIM-COMM) and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range (HEDR) in Fairbanks, Alaska, work cooperatively to conduct the Alaska NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) program for the community. AIM-COMM is the lead non-profit (IRS 501(c)(3)) organization for the event and started YHEC with the ADF&G HEDR in Alaska in 2004, with the first-ever Alaska YHEC event in 2005.
