INDOOR SHOOTING RANGE
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range (HEDR) in Fairbanks, Alaska, is owned and operated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
The Alaska Interior Marksmanship Committee (AIM-COMM), was formed shortly after the range opened to the public, in an effort to organize user groups of the range to work together to help support the range and its mission. AIM-COMM's home of operations is the Fairbanks Fish and Game Indoor Shooting Range via a formal cooperative Partner agreement with ADF&G.

More Information about Public Use Hours at the Range
Successful completion of the Range Orientation and Safety Briefing is required in order to use the live-fire range during public hours. Orientations are provided during walk-in public use hours (as long as there is at least a half-hour left before closing and as long as it is not too busy) and Range ID cards (small fee applies) are issued to individuals who complete the orientation.
- Firearms must be unloaded and cased when entering the facility (does not apply to on-duty, authorized to carry, law enforcement).
- Eye and ear protection is required and is available for purchase, along with a variety of targets, at the range front counter during open public use hours.
- The range does not offer firearm rentals. Visitors need to provide their own firearms to use. (For some classes and training events at the range, firearms are provided for use.)
- You may share a lane with another person. (Only one person on a lane firing at a time.)
- There is a minimum age of 10 to use the live-fire range during Walk-in Public Use Hours. Youth under 18 may be required to have direct adult supervision.
- The live-fire range is designed to accommodate .22 rimfire (non-magnum) rifles, air rifles, and handguns up to .45 in caliber.
- Tracer and incendiary rounds, centerfire rifles, .17-caliber, .22 Magnum and ammunition exceeding 2,000 feet per second (FPS) are prohibited due to our ceiling baffle and bullet trap limitations.
- The range orientation provides additional information about the capabilities of the live-fire range and what firearms and ammunition are permitted.

Public Use Fees . . . what does it cost to rent a lane during Walk-in Public Hours?
Fees collected during public hours cover only a part of the actual operating cost to provide the range for the public. Fees collected help offset the operational cost for the range, help provide matching dollars for Federal Pittman-Robertson Act grant funding, and to keep the range open for public use.
