This NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) training/certification course is scheduled for WED and THR, March 21-22, 2018, 5-10 PM each evening, at the ADF&G Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range, 1501 College Road in Fairbanks.
The nationally recognizes NRA Range Safety Officer course is designed to cover the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations; some ranges (like the Fairbanks Fish and Game Range) and programs require live-fire be supervised by a certified RSO. The RSO course content consists of RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and range safety briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. To become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Notes: NRA Range Safety Officers (RSOs) should not be confused with Range Officers (ROs) who conduct competitive shooting events.The NRA RSO certification is a prerequisite to the NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO) certification.)
